The short version: you earn from £42/hr on the cars, before travel between jobs, and Zuno's commission is approximately 20% of the customer price. Your exact pay is shown on every job offer before you accept. The earnings appear in your wallet as soon as the job is marked complete, and each one is released to your Stripe account once the customer's 48-hour window to report a problem has passed and their payment has settled with Stripe. Stripe then pays it to your bank on its own schedule. Payments go out continuously, at any time of day, rather than on a fixed day of the week.
What you earn per job
You are held to a floor of £42/hr for your time on the cars, before travel. The pay for each job depends on the service (Outer, Inner or Whole) and the size of the car, so it is worked out per job rather than a flat percentage. Every job offer shows your exact pay before you accept, so there is never any guessing.
Multi-car bookings earn you the per-car amount for each car you complete, and your dashboard totals it up before you accept.
The lifecycle of a payment
Once you mark a job complete in the app, the earning enters your wallet as pending. It is released once two checks have passed:
- The customer's 48-hour window to report a problem has passed. The window runs from the moment you mark the job complete, and the earning becomes eligible for release shortly after it closes. The Wallet shows the date each pending earning becomes eligible.
- The customer's payment has settled with Stripe. Card payments take a short time to settle (typically up to 7 days). This is a Stripe-side window, not something Zuno controls.
An earning that has cleared both checks is released on the platform's next sweep and moves to Released in your Wallet, with the date it was paid. You can see the current status of every earning on the Wallet page.
When payouts go out
There is no fixed payout day. The platform sweeps for earnings that have cleared both checks throughout the day and transfers each one to your Stripe account as soon as it is found, so payments go out continuously rather than in a weekly batch. Earnings that clear at the same time are sent together as one payment.
You receive a statement by email for each payment made to you, showing the sums collected on your behalf, the commission deducted, the payment processing charge deducted, and the balance paid to you.
Once a payment reaches your Stripe account, Stripe pays it to your bank on its own schedule, which you can see in your Stripe dashboard. You don't need to request a payout; release is automatic.
Where the money lands
The bank account you connected during the Stripe Connect onboarding step. If you want to change it, go to the Wallet page and press Manage payouts — this opens your Stripe dashboard in a new tab where you can update the bank account directly.
Why a payment might be held
Most earnings flow straight through. A few situations can hold a specific earning back from release:
- An open dispute on the booking — we hold the earning until the dispute resolves so the outcome can flow correctly to either side.
- A platform-side admin pause — rare, but if there's a wider issue we may pause payouts while we investigate. You'll be notified directly.
- A Stripe-side check on your account — Stripe occasionally re-verifies operative accounts. If they do, the payout pauses until you complete whatever Stripe asks for (usually a 2-minute update through your Stripe dashboard).
Any held earning is visible in the Wallet with a brief reason. If something looks held without explanation, get in touch.
Tax and bookkeeping
You're a self-employed contractor on Zuno (sole trader, limited company, or partnership — whichever you chose at signup). Zuno doesn't deduct tax from your earnings — that's your responsibility through Self Assessment or Corporation Tax, depending on your structure. The Wallet page shows the full paid-out total for the tax year so you can include it in your return.
The statement you receive for each payment is Zuno's invoice to you for its agency services; keep those for your records. Stripe's dashboard (via Manage payouts) can also produce reports of the payouts it has made to your bank.
Something doesn't look right?
If you've completed jobs and the earnings haven't appeared in your wallet, or an earning has stayed pending well past the eligible date shown against it, email [email protected]. Include your operative ID and the booking reference where possible — that lets us look up the right ledger entries quickly.
