As a self-employed operative on Zuno, you have the right to have someone else carry out a job you've accepted, rather than doing it yourself. This is your choice to make.

Who can carry out your job

The person you hand a job to can be another Zuno operative, or someone who is not on the platform and registers as your substitute. Zuno checks the right to work of both before they attend.

Your substitution code

Every verified operative has a unique substitution code, shown on your Account page. The code works the other way round from what you might expect: to hand a job to someone, you enter their code, so give yours to any operative who may want to hand jobs to you. You can copy it, and you can rotate it at any time, which instantly cancels the old code. Someone who registers as your substitute gets a code of their own.

Handing over a job

On a job you've accepted, open the menu on the job (the three dots) and choose Substitute this job. If the person is not yet on Zuno, the first screen gives you a link to send them so they can register as your substitute; once they have, they have a code. Tap They have a code, enter it, add a note about why if you want to (it is optional and only kept for the record; we don't check or judge your reason), and press Hand over.

The handover takes effect straight away. There is no offer for them to accept and nothing that expires: the job moves onto their Zuno page the moment you press the button, they are emailed and texted, and they tap Confirm to acknowledge it. Whether or not they have tapped Confirm, the job is theirs to carry out on the day, and your own job card shows it as handed over. A job can only be handed to one person at a time.

Zuno will refuse the handover if the person can't take the job: a substitute whose registration isn't active or whose right to work check isn't current, or an operative who isn't cleared or free for it. You are told that it can't go ahead and, where there is something they can do about it, what that is. You are never shown their private details.

You remain responsible for the job and you are still the person paid for it. Anything you agree to pay the person attending is between you and them.

Taking a job back

Until ten minutes before the job's start time you can take it back from your job card with Take this job back. They are told not to attend. From ten minutes before the start the handover is locked, because from that point the person attending can record their work on the job for real, and your card says so. If you need to stop a locked job, cancel the whole job or contact support.

Cancelling a job

If you go to cancel a job, you'll be offered the option to hand it to another operative instead, in case that suits you better. You're never required to. If you want to cancel, you can cancel, with no extra steps.

Getting paid

The payment for a job goes to the operative who accepted it, whoever carries it out. If you hand a job to someone else it stays your booking with Zuno, and Zuno still pays you for it. Anything you arrange between yourselves about the money is entirely between the two of you; Zuno isn't involved in that.
