Zuno has to be satisfied that everyone who carries out work through the platform has the right to work in the United Kingdom. Zuno carries this check out itself, for every person, before they attend a job.
If your passport is British or Irish, there is nothing to do
The identity check you completed at signup is your right to work check. Zuno reads the issuing country from that check and records your right to work automatically. You are not asked a question, there is no form to fill in, and there is no expiry date.
You will not see a right to work step at all. If you finished identity verification and the next thing you were asked for was insurance, that is why.
If your passport was issued anywhere else
You are asked for two things: a Home Office share code and your date of birth. That is all.
- The share code is nine characters and starts with W. Get one at gov.uk by searching "prove your right to work".
- It is valid for 90 days from the day you generate it.
- Enter it with or without spaces. Either works.
- Your date of birth is needed because the Home Office check requires it alongside the code.
You are not asked to upload anything, and you are not asked for an expiry date.
What happens after you submit
Someone at Zuno runs the Home Office employer check using your code and your date of birth, and records the result. That recorded check, not a document you send us, is the evidence Zuno keeps.
Until it is recorded you cannot accept jobs, and you will see that your details are with the review team.
If your right to work has an end date
Where the Home Office check returns a date, Zuno records it and reminds you before it passes: 30 days before, 7 days before, and on the day itself. If it passes without a new check being recorded, you cannot accept jobs until one is.
Renewing or resubmitting
If you are renewing an existing check, or submitting again after one could not be confirmed, you are sent to a different page and it asks for more than the signup flow does. Follow the instructions on that page.
If we cannot confirm your right to work
You cannot work through Zuno. This is a legal requirement rather than a Zuno policy, and it is not something the team is able to make an exception to.
